Don’t worry! There’s LOTS of ways to replace candles. For spell work, I recommend jar spells, charm bags, or spell dolls. For offerings, I like to use whatever my spirits seem to enjoy(trial and error). Water is always a good one though. Even sharing some tea, coffee or coffee grounds, different fruits and such, bread and flowers work. I hope this helps!

I bought a small, short table from a GARAGE SALE! I IMMEDIATELY felt drawn to it. Its owner was not home and her husband was running things, so I have NO idea of any history of it, but I ADORED it from the moment I sensed it, BEFORE I even saw it! This small table will ALWAYS be my alter. 🙂 <3

I do really love your vlogs, for someone so young you are very wise. My altar has taken years to build, most of the items are family heirlooms or gifts from my closest family and friends. It is on my sideboard in the lounge. I add other bits to it sometimes, when it feels right. People do get so worked up about what goes on one. It’s lovely to hear good advice. When you said don’t put your altar in the bedroom because of the adult things that go on in there made so much fucking sense as to why I sometimes feel watched when my husband and I are getting down. FML. But with 2 young children, one of whom already loves all rocks and crystals I need to be able to shut things away from them.
Shae P you can also cover your altar with a cloth, I’m told that helps!
What she said about setting up your altar for your birthday and blowing out your own candles and making all of your wishes was one of the most heartwarming things I’ve ever heard.
That’s revolutionary honestly, my twin brother ALWAYS blows out all of our birthday candles first for as long as I can remember 😭 next year I’m definitely blowing out my own candles 🙂

Hello i ran across ur video .i hav been lookin into become a wiccan i hav watched alot of differnt videos about alters crystals meditation and so on . I also hav been told i need a book of shadows hav no clue how to make one do one . I got into want to learn about wiccan for alot of reasons which is to remove negative out my life be more at piece with me and my life and to love myself and the way i look like learn to love the skin im in .. i love the outside in spring summer fall. I always hav been drawin to full mooms sunsets the clouds the stars .. anyways … i want to set a alter up maybe 2 one just for beautiful and the other to meditate remove negative and so on so wht is a way to set alter up and to make a book of shadows. Just found you channel. Awesome videos, I think you explanation of what an altar is is perfect. My first altar was one I built while still practicing in secret and I had a huge image of Marilyn Monroe as a focal point. The tarot deck you use is gorgeous.
I love your altar. It’s very beautiful. I realised that I’ve actually unknowingly set up an altar on my bedside table. It has my tarot and blessed be cards, and a vision board I made and framed. I also keep my tea cup there for my tea because I enjoy a cup while I’m doing spiritual practice. Especially chamomile because I have really bad anxiety and it calms me for my practice, so it’s not full of nervous energy. I’m excited to move in about a week though because I’ve ordered some beautiful bookshelves for my books and plants and they’ll act as an altar for me. 😊
Same. I started “witchcraft” without calling it as such and crystals and a manifestation journal as my “altar” without calling it as such. Still not sure if I should call myself a witch without really seeing myself as one although in behaviour…
M Watson honestly I think most aspects of the craft are so simple, but people over think it. You’ve created an altar knowing it! Many people have family shrines, a desk with all family photos and some decorations, or a shelf on a wall with items that are important to them. Have fun decorating your shelves!

i love the fact that what u say is more about feeling. no rules and guidelines. just to follow our feelings and what feels good. i’ve read a lot of witchy books that explain the basics about alters or Wicca in general and i find a lot of the texts very strict. i don’t resonate to a lot of the things that i guess “i should” but hearing your message im more driven to explore Wicca and being the witch i feel i am…in a “not book like way”. so thanks for sharing . changed my way of thinking about Wicca.
I generally do whatever feels right. When someone comes to me for help and I don’t have immediate answers I kinda go inside my head where there’s this huge library with ancient books and crystals and candles and incense and either a book will float off a shelf and open to the page I need or a crystal will pop into my hand or a specific color of candle or whatever and I can tell the person what to do. There’s no rhyme or reason to it. It just feels right. Always do what feels right. 😀

While that can mean different things to different people, and yes, there are plenty of people who call themselves Wiccan and don’t believe in those things; that is the definition of the path.

The Witch Of Wonderlust Wicca doesn’t have a set way for setting up an alter except that they have to contain a representation of the god and goddess. So candles, statues, whatever, on the correct side. If I remember correctly, the god should be on the right, and the goddess should be on the left.
@The Witch Of Wonderlust What type of religion/faith do you consider yourself if I may ask? I listen to your videos.. and they always feel as right to me, as my own craft. When I feel energies swell in me, and get that moment of overwhelming feeling, is the same kind of “truth” I feel listening to your words. I have always sort of been a “natural” witch. Like.. I just KNOW things sometimes. I once almost cried at 6-7yrs old because my mother said I didn’t need my pretty umbrella today. I remember being so distraught until she agreed to let me take it. She was late picking me up from school that day, and I remember grinning from ear to ear, staring at her car.. from under my umbrella. I still to this day am not sure if she could see my smile… through all the rain.

Or you could have a candle, a flower and a bowl of sea glass.
Alters can be minimalist, maximalist, non existent, vertical, or literally your whole house if you want. (Or a spot in your yard or a rock garden, etc.
