00:00 Introduction

Hair loss is very normal for most men and it happens to us as we age. Frankly, I don’t know of any man including me who is happy to lose their hair. So the big question is how do you treat or even reverse hair loss?

I’m not a medical doctor and everything I say here is based on my experience and my opinions. So the first place to start when you notice some hair loss is your doctor. Talk to them to figure out if anything is wrong so you can get to the real bottom of it. So of course the big question is how can you treat hair loss or possibly even reverse it?

HAIR LOSS MYTHS: DEBUNKED
02:41 Myth #1: Grooming & Hat-wearing Contributes to Hair Loss
Some people argue that hair loss has something to do with the type of hat you wear or the grooming you do but that is simply not the case. Brushing your hair or wearing a baseball hat are totally fine and will have no
impact.

03:17 Myth #2: Hair Vitamins are Effective
The truth is there’s no such thing as a hair vitamin unless the cause of your hair loss was a nutritional deficiency.

03:54 Myth #3: Other Causes (Stress, Sunlight, etc.)
Hair loss also isn’t caused by any stress, a lack of circulation, or the sun shining on your head.

04:04 Myth #4: More Testosterone Means Hair Loss
Guys who go bald have more testosterone and the increased testosterone has something to do with the lack of hair in your head, not true! Studies have shown that men who are bald have similar testosterone levels to men who are not bald.

04:22 Hair Loss Truth: Smoking Contributes To Baldness
Smoking makes your baldness more severe and it’s just something to keep in mind next time you smoke that cigarette.

BEST HAIR LOSS TREATMENTS

04:48 1. Finasteride
Finasteride is a prescription drug also known under the brand name Propecia. It has been on the market since 1997 and you just take it orally in form of a pill every day. It treats hair loss on your crown and the middle part of your scalp but not on other parts of your body. It blocks your DHT hormones by about 70% thus slowing down the shrinkage and shortening of your hair and therefore, you keep your hair for longer. Dutasteride also blocks DHT even though it’s more effective in the sense that it can block up to 90% of DHT versus Finasteride only blocks up to about 70% of the DHT hormone. So obviously, it’s more effective but it’s not FDA approved in the US for hair loss treatment.

07:18 2. Minoxidil / Rogaine
It’s an over-the-counter medication and FDA approved in the US for hair loss treatment. Interestingly, it’s supposed to be used around the crown of your scalp only and nowhere else. It’s basically a foam that you have to apply to your crown twice a day in order to be effective. In my book, that’s a serious commitment.

08:26 3. Hair transplantation
This is not a drug but it works actually by moving hair follicles from areas where you have a lot of hair to areas where you don’t have a lot of hair. Yes, it sounds like a lot of work and it is because every single follicle from the back or from the side of your scalp has to be relocated. Because of that, it takes a lot of time, is therefore very costly, and can also cause a lot pain.

09:49 4. Laser therapy
It’s also known as low light therapy or cold laser therapy and it works in the way that photons are irradiated onto your scalp thus helping to increase the circulation on your scalp. The idea is that the photons stimulate the circulation in your scalp and therefore, help your hair growth.

10:53 5. Scalp micropigmentation
Now, this really doesn’t treat the hair loss, it is more of a cosmetic procedure, think of it you are tattooing little dots onto your head so it looks like you have a buzz cut that was intentional and not forced because you’re going bald. It cost anywhere between $1000-$4000 depending on how many hair dots have to be tattooed onto your scalp.

  2. don’t fight baldness, that is something that defined you. If you don’t feel ok with it, just shave your head, period.

  3. I will have to disagree with you about the stress factor Sven. I had long hair for most of my teens to my early 20’s. I had severe depression till 2015 when I joined the Navy. Having my hair cut so short, the stress of my military career, and all the pain of getting out really took a toll on my hair. Now I just look silly if I grow my hair out. But I figure I’d just own it and lose it naturally. May look bad, but not a lot of men are confident enough to rock that look. And worse case I can always get it trimmed for special events so I don’t look like a total loser lol.

  4. Men fighting baldness because they are suffering are not men. They are insecure wimps, just like the Comb-Over in Chief.

    1. You’re on a channel based almost completely around the external appearance of a man you obnoxious hippie

  5. Just accept it like a man. There’s nothing ungentlemanlike about being bald. Covering it deserves ridicule.

    1. @Cattlecum Wewlad Yes sir, I have seen all sorts of skulls on bald people. Men who are not insecure about themselves.

    2. @petrolheadJJ Have you ever seen someone with a dent in the back of their head? At that point you need to either prevent it with minoxidil, get a skull implant or get a hair transplant. I thank God that my skull shape would suit a buzz cut but not everybody is as lucky.

    3. @Cattlecum Wewlad not everyone looks good even with hair. Covering it up and fighting it reeks of poor self esteem.

  6. OR u completely shave your head as soon as u notice something’s wrong, cry for a few days and then live your life

    It was tough

  7. My hair went at 19, for me it made its easier. What you never have you never miss

    1. @Lubricated Thimble i also would take finasteride, but not with These side effects. I want to become children one time

    2. @Bos The small risk for side effects is one I am willing to take in order to keep my confidence alive.

  8. Crazy coincidental timing on this video. Just started finasteride and minoxidil treatment yesterday. Excited to see how it goes!

    1. Stone Fingers be worry of the side effects I have been on medication for anxiety and depression since the late 1990’s. I had no problems with anxiety or depression before. If you loose your hair it’s depressing so I guess you cannot win either way.

    1. Some people dont get the time. A cousin of mine lost most his hair at age 18 I on the other hand got a big M shape bald spot at 25.

  9. great video!
thanks for not trying to sell any drugs, but actually giving good advice and citing studies:)

  10. stem cells from your own scalp are used in asia is clinically tested and govt approved. why doesn’t anyone in the west know about this, including those that vacation in asia frequently??

  11. I remember when I was young my mom used to forcibly apply coconut oil to my hair every weekend to keep it overnight and then wash the next day. It was annoying but so necessary to maintain healthy hair. In future when I have kids I’ll do it to my boys as well, not just girls like my mom did 😂 I know it won’t help prevent balding or anything in a man it’s genetic but I know good maintenance will help preserve thick hair for longer and help prevent premature balding.

    1. Shaira Sultana I was putting coconut oil on my hair every night for a couple of months and out of no where I started getting really bad dandruff and itchy scalp and know it’s in my eyebrows to don’t know if that’s the cause cause I would put it on my face at night too but still sucks

  12. My method for fighting hair loss

    Razor blade 😉

Face the music. Trim, or shave it. Never rock the shower curtain look. Unless your last name is Costanza.

  13. Nothing fixes genetics.

If you are losing your hair, own it. It looks worse if you try to hide it.

  14. Continued stress over time will most definitely have an impact on your hair. I have known numerous people including myself that started loosing hair at an early age due to stress. Whenever stress conditions got better, our hair would be fine. Stress is a biggie guys, don’t let this guy tell you different.

    1. @Crzr-97 practicing mindfulness. self-awareness, getting sleep, drinking plenty of water, and learning not to ‘over’ react to things without processing first, are also highly beneficial (more so than drinking tea but props on the deep breaths and yoga!)

    2. @Chris R same!! I’m struggling with this even tho I’m 20 now, but I’m still afraid somehow… I’ve been like this since 10 or smth, whenever I’m feel stressful life, I lose lots of front hair (this might be less caring as well) and maybe different people feel stress differently (even tho I’m honestly so patient some times to even allow my self to live such life, or you have to go through some hard times in your life as well) but what I was trying to say is that in my experience; it’s true if you just lost your hair due to stress while caring your hair before that you have chance to get you lost hair back, but what I’m not sure is that if the stressed full life is too long, you chance will be less!

    3. @Chris R im at a point right now where I’m constantly seeing a decent amount of hairs on my hands when I’m done lathering shampoo. When you noticed your hair recovering did you see alot less hair on your hands? Honestly this combined with the fact that I can see my scalp more clearly in certain areas through my hair after a shower is what has me very concerned rn.

    4. Stress is definitely a factor that should not be ignored. I know of two men who had diffuse thinning all over that had significant loss recovered after leaving the stressful environment.

    5. @fzr600rr Yeah, it’s pretty crazy what stress can do to your your body. Hopefully you’re able to reduce your stress so your hair has a chance to come back.

  15. To all those expperiencing hair loss – I get you. Don’t wory. There are worse things in life.

    1. @Praetorians It is an informative video. Of course I’m going to watch it.

  16. Join the club. Rogaine works the best but I can’t wait to try something new 👍

    1. @Truthfears Guilty ok. Im curious because i just thought it became un affecttive just from using it so long. Like maybe my system started to reject it or got use to it.

    2. @Truthfears Guilty i was 27. It worked up until i was 47. For some reason after that, it no longer worked. I started on it when you use to have to get a prescription from your doctor.

    3. @Truthfears Guilty minoxadil worked well for 20 years. After that it just stopped working. I dont know why…

  17. Only way the hair transplantation. You come the Turkey and see the Turkish hair transplantation technology. Cheap and safe.. Visit google the Turkish hair transplantation. Welcome The Turkey…

  18. I watched to many videos from other male fashion channels and was almost expecting a video full of scammy products 😛

    1. 18 starting to recede I had a ponytail for a while looks cool wasn’t worth it at all

  19. Ben Mackenzie beating the rules of nature is laughing in his house right now

    1. @spotsill 21. century and world still cannot figure out how to keep the dead tissue on our heads. We have water beds though.

    2. Like I said your genetics always wins in the long run no matter who you are .

    3. @spotsill well, father of Ben Mackenzie would tell you otherwise. He is bald as a knee.

    4. Unfortunately no matter how good your intentions your dna always wins in the end 😪😪. At least he is being honest with his audience 👍🏻👍🏻.

  20. Worst thing about hair loss, Time by which you realise it’s already too late.

    1. @The Wessex Bretwalda I am from Turkey and I agree. One of our famous touristic reasons is hair planting and health reasons, it is really cheap and high quality. If you go to Turkey and wander around in a mall or street you will see few tourists who got hair implant recently. Even my dad got one 6-7 years ago and he is still happy with it. Sadly and most likely I will need one too in around 5 years.

    2. Yeah its been 3 years my hairs are going thin nd thin now I start taking care of hairs but its too late..they are just fukin thin like there is no hair on my head when I touch my hairs. I feel like there is no hair on my head…but I am looking for hair thickness treatment is it any treatment whoch can work for mee. Any suggestions..?

    3. @The Wessex Bretwalda Whats the best method to retrieve natural & healthy hair back?

    4. Hair transplant in Turkey mate, cheap and decent…I’ve done loadsa research into it
